Ben has been involved with the martial arts since his youth. a passion that has taken him all over the globe. Ben has studied and been exposed to gung-fu, karate, jujitsu, kendo, tang soo do, western boxing, and his favorite/ forte the art of arnis.
Ben has been teaching the art of arnis since 1990. his two main influences were Karl jackley and grandmaster Ernesto Presas Sr. Ben was on the board of directors for the I.P.M.A.F. from 1990-1998 under Grandmaster Presas. under Mr. Presas he attained the rank of Lakan Tatlo(3rd Dan). Ben also holds rank in Karate, Jujitsu, Kendo, and in Filipino weaponry such as the dulo-dulo, balisong, bankaw, daga, and other eclectic forms of combat. While living in New Zealand Ben was introduced to the works of Hanshi Patrick McCarthy the author of the Bubishi and founder of Koryu Uchinadi. Ben fell in love with the classical text and has gone on to study the kata contained within its pages under the watchful eye of Mr. McCarthy. Ben has also been involved with Kelly Worden’s N.S.I. Ben has hosted mr. Worden many times and feels that Mr. Worden is on the uppermost tier of progressive instructors in the United States. Ben continues his research and study of the martial arts daily.
