tick-tock

maaaaan, how time flyes… so much going on in so many different directions but its all good :)

i hope everyone has gotten most of the x-mas shopping out of the way? I’m almost done. just a few little things to take care of.  i cant believe x-mas is just a week away!  I’ve been pretty busy on a few different fronts. the book is done. just have to get it ready for the download stuff. I’m not too techie. but i have a friend/student who is so i figure after the first of the year it should be on this site as well as in the schools for purchase. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and am already looking towards the second. i plan on having four in total to comprise the basics of arnis that i teach and will require for black belt. there will be a security seminar in Jan. sometime i will put the details on here asap. within the last 8 yrs i have taught  bouncers/ doormen from all over Oregon in the use of force. I’m proud to say they have all done very well in there fields/clubs. i hope to continue that trend. the tallest has been 7.4 to the shortest 5.6 from 500lbs to 135lbs. crazy, eh?

i also have a good friend that might be coming this way via new Zealand. he is a real master of the arts and if he comes i will be holding a seminar for those interested in seeing a real deal dragon. not too many of those left these days. i hope to make it public but if anything it will be for those guys who have been in my circle and who are adept at arnis already. if it happens it will be awesome. if your interested in said event hit me up and let me know now so i have an idea of the numbers?

upcoming seminar in march 2010. details to follow soon.

waves and warriors 2010 this summer in seaside Oregon. fl-yer to be posted soon. its going to be a great event. a time of learning from the NW’s top martial artist. the majority of the instructors have over 20 yrs under there belts. if that sounds like something you would be interested in hit me up. no paper dragons will be teaching fyi :)

well that’s all for now from the land of perpetual rain :) i hope everyone has a blessed Christmas. don’t forget who’s birthday it is and why we celebrate it.

Peace, Love & Light to all of you, ben

gobble ..gobble..gobble

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

i hope it is a time of fellowship with family filled with lots of laughter and happiness. There are so many things to be thankful for take a moment and reflect on them..im thankful for living in a country of freedom and for the opportunities that living here presents. im thankful for my family and for having a son that is healthy and strong. im thankful for the martial arts and the numerous benefits they have brought me. im thankful for the teachers of the way that pointed me in the right direction and who have always given good advise( even when i didn’t want it) im thankful for my friends. i couldn’t ask for better ones. im thankful for my students who teach me as much as i them. and most of all im thankful for a God of mercy and grace who always picks me up when i fall or nudges me back onto the right path when i have wandered. i am also thankful for my enemies who help keep the fire of practice, focus, and intent burning.  may God bless you all today with lots of love and light.

Midol popin Paper dragons…

well, today is my birthday. wow, i didn’t think i would live to see 30 much less 37 :) how time flys.

been training in the arts for as long as i can remember. i remember when i was just a baby growing up in Hawaii and watching people train on the beach. how it captivated me even then.  when i was 6 my father bought me my first sword. i played with that thing day & night until i eventually broke it. I Love the martial arts it is apart of who i am. now 20 plus years later I’m still at it teaching, training, practicing, and using it in the real world. I have been very fortunate in having some of the best teachers in the world. i will never forget to be grateful. However, i am sad that so many grandmasters sell out,  selling rank and titles to the highest bidder. i guess i cant blame them though. most of them live in countries that are under developed and the American dollar can go a long way and feed a family for quite awhile. I guess they figure it will all come out in the wash. Its in the doing right? I gotta say when i was coming up the term “master” meant something. now days it don’t mean shit. the majority of the “masters”  are a joke and it saddens me because it diminishes the real thing. Oh yes, there are real masters that are alive and well but most of them shy away from using that term because of all the midol popping, paper dragons, with no teeth, heart or fire. what do you do?  what can u do? if it were ova seas you could challenge them. it still goes on in some places in the world but in this country…not so much. its a business, sad but true. Most “masters” these days are just glorified babysitters. selling a program of some sort.  the McDojos are everywhere and the uneducated public support them because of lack of knowledge. the martial arts have turned into fucking infomercials…buy my dvd for 24.99 , join my on-line classes for 9.99 a month, join my organization and receive an autographed picture of me taking your  $$$. hell, i guess everyone has to make a living somehow. there are just way too many high ranking individuals with no skill, ability or talent selling there shit to the masses and getting away with it???wtf??? I guess one reason is it didn’t cost them anything of value( blood, sweat, tears) so its easy to sell something that doesn’t mean anything to you other than a few thousand dollars and a plane flight if even that… but as my friend tells me…in the end it all will come out in the wash its in the doing not in the piece of paper hanging on the wall. in my life i have met the real deals and i can count them on one hand and i have been honored by there instruction, guidance, and friendship. i look forward to the next generation of masters especially one in particular but he will probably become a hermit and take all that knowledge with him (wink)

News to U…Place your orders…

Well, i should be getting the book any day now…i cant wait (yell)

Also, met with the designer who is putting together the new art work for my class shirt and logo. its gonna be so cool! the cost on the t-shirt will be 20 bones. the book is still up in the air not sure on how much the final cost will be. i plan to have it up on the site as well for a download.

i still have sticks if any1 needs them. 225 per box of 25. good rattan!

on another note i was asked to be in a magazine woo hoo! its gonna be sexy and ova the top (per my nature :) it should be going to print in a few months. its going to be fun to do i am looking forward to it

the next security seminar will be scheduled in the next 2 weeks most likely at the jungle gym( love that place) if ur looking to hit the weights u wont find a better group of hard core mo-fo’s to work out with fyi.

last thing…i was invited to a stick fighting seminar sometime in nov. well, the guy putting it together is a man of low integrity and of no honor a real paper dragon. i will not support douche bags no matter what there “rank” u can buy your belts but u cant buy honor. well, i will go if im allowed to “spar” with him somewhere private( like that coward would eva step to the plate.) only if he has his bottle of midol, eh?

i also wanted to send a big shout out to my best mate kurt! congrats man!! on your master’s rank, if anyone deserves it its you. i hope your enjoying manila and have fun with g.m. in europe if u go!
